Is there a peptide testing lab in the United States?
Yes. Prodigy Labs is a US peptide testing laboratory at 5414 Oberlin Drive in San Diego, California. We test research peptides for identity, purity and content by reverse-phase HPLC, with LC-MS intact mass confirmation available, and we run endotoxin (USP <85>), bioburden (USP <61>) and sterility (USP <71>) in house for injectable material. What does a US location actually change?
Mostly time and handling. A vial shipped inside the United States usually arrives in one to three days and does not pass through customs, so the turnaround you are quoted is close to the turnaround you get. A vial sent overseas adds international transit and customs handling in both directions before the laboratory clock starts. A US laboratory is also a US legal entity, which matters if the report is going to a US clinic, a compounding partner or a dispute. Location does not change the chemistry: a good method is a good method in any country.
Can a US lab test a vial that came from an overseas vendor?
Yes. The laboratory tests the vial you send, wherever it was made or bought. Send it sealed and unopened with its label and any lot or batch number, so content can be reported as milligrams per vial against the label claim and the certificate can record which material it describes.
How long does testing take at a US lab?
At Prodigy Labs the HPLC Package (identity, purity and content) is 5 to 7 business days from the day the sample is received. The injectable safety panel is 7 to 10 business days, and the panel with the 14-day USP <71> sterility test is about 15 business days. A rush option returns chemistry results within 3 business days. Other laboratories publish their own figures, and some publish none, so ask whether a quoted turnaround starts at shipment or at receipt.
What does it cost?
Prodigy Labs publishes its prices. The HPLC Package is $225 per sample and includes identity, purity and content in milligrams per vial. The injectable safety panel is $595 and the panel with sterility and LC-MS identity is $995. There is no order minimum. Full pricing and what each tier includes.
How do I check a US lab before I ship?
Four checks cover most of it. Does the lab publish a street address and a legal entity? Does it sell peptides itself, which would be a conflict of interest? Can its certificates be verified on its own system, not only as a forwarded PDF? And what does it say about accreditation, including the scope? Prodigy Labs is accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 under PJLA Accreditation #96417 for chemical testing; our peptide methods sit in a scope expansion and are not in the current scope, and we say so plainly.
