Most incubators give you a bench and a key fob. Prodigy Labs gives you a closed loop — your physical lab, your Laboratory OS, and our ISO 17025 testing infrastructure running as one system from day one.
Bench leasing options that scale with your needs. No long-term commitments required.
Access to LC-MS, GC-MS, PCR, flow cytometry, and more. No capital investment needed.
Connect with fellow scientists, entrepreneurs, and industry professionals.
Every tenant gets the full Laboratory OS plus priority access to our ISO 17025 testing menu. No separate subscription. No external client wait times.
Our Oberlin campus sits in Sorrento Valley, the heart of San Diego's life-science corridor — minutes from UCSD, Scripps Research, and the Torrey Pines cluster.
Administrative support, conference rooms, shared facilities, and introductions to our partner network of testing labs and scientific suppliers.
Unique to Prodigy Labs
Most incubators give you space. We give you space plus a closed loop: your bench work, your software, and our accreditation-pending testing lab — all connected. Results flow back into your ELN automatically so you spend time on science, not data transfer.
Log work directly in your ELN. Capture samples, link reagent lots, and track inventory — all from your bench without switching tools.
Submit analytical test requests directly from your ELN. Tenants jump the external client queue — typical turnaround under 3 business days for standard panels.
ISO 17025 accreditation pending COAs, raw data, and QC results link directly to the originating experiment. Audit trail complete, no manual import.
External clients pay per test and manage their own data. Incubator tenants get the whole system wired together — at one flat monthly rate.

From early-stage cell therapy startups to the U.S. operations of established international life science companies — the range of organizations that have chosen Prodigy Labs as their San Diego research base speaks for itself.

Rejuvenate Bio is a San Diego biotech developing gene therapy approaches to aging reversal. Founded with academic roots at Harvard, the company is advancing some of the most ambitious longevity research programs in the field.

MyoGene Bio ran one of the largest research programs in our incubator's history, occupying four benches across two consecutive lease terms. A flagship example of what Prodigy Labs is built for: serious science, serious scale.

The U.S. subsidiary of Nacalai Tesque — a Japanese biochemical and reagent manufacturer founded in 1950 — chose Prodigy Labs as their West Coast research home. A trusted global name in life science, operating out of Torrey Pines.

Prodigy Labs tenants get preferred access to Innovative Lab Services (ILS) — a nationwide independent instrument service provider with 30+ years and thousands of LC-MS and GC-MS systems maintained coast to coast. When your instrument is down, ILS is on-site within 24–48 hours. James serves as ILS Regional Service Manager, which means you get a direct line — not a support ticket.
Residents get access to a curated consortium of specialized partners across analytical services, research support, and lab operations — coordinated through Prodigy Labs as unified capabilities, not a list of vendor referrals.
We offer a preferred partner arrangement — your tenants get access to the Prodigy Labs platform at founding member rates, and you get a co-branded listing as a preferred resource in our partner directory. No cost to you.
Straight answers to what founders ask us most often about bench space in San Diego.
At Prodigy Labs in Sorrento Valley, a dedicated wet lab bench is $1,800 per month with a three-month minimum term. That includes access to shared analytical instrumentation, cold storage, shared office and conference space, mail handling, and 24/7 building access. A Team Suite with multiple benches and private office space is $4,500 per month. Rates are current as of the date of publication and are confirmed in a written lease at the time of occupancy.
Three months. Most tenants take a longer term — twelve months is common — but the three-month minimum exists so that early-stage teams working against a short grant period or a single milestone are not forced into a multi-year commitment. Terms are negotiated separately from, and independently of, any grant award.
The shared laboratory operates at Biosafety Level 1 (BSL-1). Work requiring BSL-2 containment — for example research involving human pathogens or primary human material — is not currently within the shared facility's operating scope. Programs that need containment, licensure, permits, or facility modifications beyond current scope are reviewed individually and must be agreed in writing before occupancy.
It depends entirely on the funder and the terms of your specific award. Some programs permit facility or rental costs as a direct or indirect cost; others exclude laboratory space altogether and expect it to be covered by internal or raised capital. Check your notice of award and program guidelines, or ask your program officer, before budgeting bench rent against an award. Lease terms at Prodigy Labs are set separately from any grant award, so tenancy does not depend on how your funding treats facility costs.
Yes. We provide non-binding letters of support for applicants who are considering Prodigy Labs as their research site, at no cost and with no obligation on either side. Letters typically turn around within a few business days, carry a twelve-month validity window so the terms stay accurate, and can be reissued if your submission timeline moves. Contact us with your program, sponsor, and submission deadline.
Shared instrumentation available to tenants includes 2–8 °C, −20 °C and −80 °C cold storage, a Class II A2 biosafety cabinet, CO₂ incubator, microplate reader, autoclave, analytical and precision balances, benchtop and floor centrifuges, sonicator, UV-Vis and NanoDrop spectrophotometry, pH meter, rotary evaporator, water purification, and shared fume hood capacity. Tenants also have a route to accredited analytical testing — HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS methods — run by the in-house laboratory rather than sent to a third party.
A Starter Bench is roughly six linear feet of dedicated bench space in the wet lab, plus dedicated storage. Instrumentation, biosafety cabinets, cold storage, the autoclave, conference room, and office space are shared across tenants. Tenants also receive a business address, mail handling, and access to the Prodigy Laboratory OS platform — electronic lab notebook, inventory, and procurement — from their first day.
