The lab worth using is the one whose report the person on the other side of your problem will accept, and whose methods answer the question you actually have. Brand preference without those two things is noise.

What should I decide before I pick a peptide testing lab?
Start with who has to accept the report, because that constraint overrides every other preference. If a vendor will only replace product against a certificate from one named laboratory, a report from anywhere else is information for you rather than leverage with them. If the report is going to a compounding partner, a clinic, or a dispute, ask that party first which laboratories they recognise. Only after that does it make sense to compare methods: which assays are included rather than charged as add-ons, how identity is established, whether content is reported in mg per vial, turnaround measured from receipt, and how much material the lab needs.
Is the most mentioned lab the best lab?
Not necessarily. Mentions track habit, price, and how long a name has circulated in a given community, and a laboratory that is strong at chromatographic purity may not be the right choice if your failure mode is the amount in the vial. Geography is a real variable too, because an overseas laboratory adds shipping time and customs handling to turnaround whatever its analytical quality. Popularity is evidence that a lab exists and processes volume. It is not evidence that its method set matches your question.
What belongs on a short comparison checklist?
Six questions cover most of it. Will the counterparty accept this laboratory's report? Which assays are included and which are add-ons? How is identity established, by retention time alone, by co-injection against a standard, or by mass? Is content reported as mg per vial, and on what basis? What is the typical turnaround from receipt rather than from shipment? And can the certificate be verified on the laboratory's own system, or does it only exist as a PDF that was forwarded to you?
Why does it matter whether a certificate can be verified independently?
Because a PDF is trivially editable and a forwarded certificate has no chain of custody to the vial in your hand. A certificate that can be checked against the issuing laboratory's own records tells you the report is real and tells you which sample it belongs to. This is the single most common gap between a certificate that resolves a dispute and one that merely restates a claim. Prodigy certificates can be verified directly.
Does the lab need to be accredited?
Accreditation tells you a laboratory operates a quality system that has been assessed against ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for a defined scope, and the scope matters as much as the accreditation. A laboratory can hold accreditation for one method and run many others outside it, which is normal and not concealment, but it means an accreditation badge alone does not tell you the test you are ordering is covered. Ask which methods sit inside the scope.
