How do I test a GLP-1 research peptide vial?
Send an intact, unopened vial to an independent laboratory and order the assays that match your question: identity, HPLC purity and content in mg. Appearance, a vendor PDF and a photo of the powder do not measure what is in the vial. A laboratory report is tied to the vial you submit and to nothing else.
What can a lab measure on a GLP-1 class vial?
Identity, by retention time, by co-injection against a reference standard, or by mass. Purity, by reverse-phase HPLC. Content, as milligrams per vial against a characterised reference standard. Endotoxin by USP <85>, heavy metals and bioburden are available as a safety panel, and the 14-day USP <71> sterility test is available as an upgrade or in Tier 3. If the label states milligrams, include content.
Do test strips or photos tell me anything?
Not about identity, purity or dose. Strips sold for this purpose do not replace chromatography against a reference standard, and a picture of a lyophilised cake does not distinguish one peptide from another.
How much material does it take, and what does it cost?
One intact vial is usually enough for identity, purity and content. How much peptide a lab needs.
